Sophie Scoops Award
Sophie Bentley was named the winner of the 2011 Roland Archer Trophy award for best employee at Grimsby Cleethorpes and Humber Region YMCA’s AGM on Monday 14th May.
Colleagues voted for Sophie, a Customer Services Officer at our Peaks Lane hostel, to win the award from a list of nominees, all of whom had been selected after being selected for the bi-monthly employee awards in the past 12 months.

YMCA England and the County Sports Partnership have secured £2-million from the Home Office to ensure that there is a legacy left in our local communities, following this summer’s games in London.

Foyer Football Success
A six-a-side football team from the Grimsby Cleethorpes and Humber Region YMCA Foyer reached the quarter finals of the Lincolnshire YMCA and Lincoln City Football Club Sport & Education Trust (LCFCSET) tournament on Sunday 1st April.
The tournament was held on the 3G pitches at Sincil Bank, home of Lincoln City FC, and featured eleven teams from around the Midlands, all of which were professional organisations that provide essential services for their local community.

YMCA Staff Get On Their Bikes
Employees at Grimsby Cleethorpes and Humber Region YMCA are hitting two wheels to get to and from work, in an effort to get fit, go green and save money.

As the Sleep Easy 2012 campaign is put to bed for another year, we are delighted to announce that 213 rough sleeping campaigners raised a combined total of £28,000!
This really is a fantastic result, exceeding the £25,000 target, and we send our thanks to all who took part, all who donated, and all who helped to organise and publicise the campaign.
The money raised will go towards providing daytime support activities for the homeless young people we serve. That one night of cold discomfort will help to make a difference to disadvantaged young lives.

The YMCA Sleep Easy event was a test of endurance for myself as a participant, but in reality it is only a glimpse into the lives of those who sleep rough every day.
Katie Blackburn, Grimsby Telegraph reporter

Homelessness is an issue that can go forgotten, but from experience, sleeping on the streets is not something you can forget if you have to do it.
Sgt James Main

The issue of homelessness is one of this country’s great disgraces.
