The Foyer

The 26-unit Foyer in Orwell Street, Grimsby was completed in 2001 and works upon a self-contained model of supported housing. All the units are fully equipped with kitchens, showers and living space.

As a requirement for staying at the Foyer, clients need to be accessing education, voluntary work or employment. The support planning system mirrors that at the hostel. Length of stay is considerably longer than Peaks Lane, with an average of 12 months.

Grimsby Cleethorpes and Humber Region YMCA is committed to providing services that allow people the opportunity to develop and realize their full potential. Central to our future is the firm belief that services delivered must subscribe to the principles of fairness and impartiality.

In order to validate that GCHRYMCA Foyer satisfies the Foyer Federation requirements, it is audited on a regular basis. This assessment involves a visit by a Foyer Federation Assessor for two days to check the quality of the service being provided. Assessment involves validation of the self-assessment documentation (completed prior to the visit), along with staff and client interviews.

Clients have access to a communal lounge which is equipped with comfortable seating, a pool table, TV, fridge, books, games, as well as access to an IT suite where the Internet can be used, and a music room which is stocked with variou instruments.

The Foyer has an excellent Training / Conference room at its disposal – this can also be utilised by local organisations should they wish to hire such a facility, thus generating additional income which can be invested in the Foyer.
