Community Housing

GCHRYMCA negotiated throughout 2009 with a generous benefactor, who had stepped forward with an offer of purchasing a property in the local area in order to provide supported housing to young males aged 18-25.

In late-2009, a property was purchased in the heart of Grimsby, in good proximity to all local facilities, which will serve as the focal point of the Community Housing Project.

The next development in this process was the appointment of a specified Community Support Coordinator and Community Support Assistant, which was completed in January 2010.

After the necessary paperwork was completed, GCHRYMCA proudly opened the facility for use by clients as a working service in March 2010.

The house is fully compliant with all fire, electric and safety requirements and the large rooms’ unique features provide an outstanding springboard for clients to further progress in their lives prior to fully independent living.

The five clients will each be working through detailed support plans and accredited modular work that fully equips them for sustaining a tenancy and developing life skills. Over the coming months staff will be working with a specific few agencies who will be able to nominate clients for the project. The mix and balance of clients will be carefully managed to ensure everyone in the project has the best possible chance of further progress and success in their life.
