YMCA Gets Hooked on Positive Activities

A new community facility is helping youngsters from YMCA Humber, Get Hooked on Positive Activities.

A series of lakes have been created on the site of the proposed Millennium Park development on a 64-acre site off Humberston Avenue.

Clair, one of the young people at our Peaks Lane Housing Project, had a date with Kate when the Duchess of Cambridge recently visited Grimsby.

Her Royal Highness visited Peaks Lane Fire Station to greet young people on the Prince's Trust scheme, of which Clair is one.

Clair spoke of her delight at meeting one of the world's most famous women.

Oasis Immingham Sleep Easy

Staff and pupils from Oasis Academy Immingham presented representatives from YMCA Humber with a cheque for £2,500 following their Sleep Easy event, which was held on 1st February.

The Academy held a 'closed' Sleep Easy event, the first of its kind in the region, for staff and pupils at their premises on the same night that 200 rough sleepers raised funds across the region.

Success Story: James

James Delaney arrived at the Community House on 28th October 2011. He had spent a number of months sofa surfing as he was evicted from his previous property and this was having an effect on his college work and his emotional wellbeing. Now James is off to university at Newport. Read his story here.
