Andrew has returned to the Peaks Lane hostel for the second time. Andrew left during the summer to live with a friend in a private rented flat, however he found living independently very difficult; he felt the friends around him were not positive role models. He left the property and sofa surfed for a few weeks before returning to the Peaks Lane hostel.

Since his return he has worked very hard, and is now studying full time at the Grimsby Institute of further and Higher Education. He is doing so well that he is one unit ahead of other students in his class.

A skilled football player, Andrew currently plays for a great team in Grimsby. He has now started putting his skills to good use in coaching children at the ‘footy monsters’ sessions at the GCHRYMCA, he enjoys this immensely as he feels privileged and supported to be involved in these activities. Andrew is valued by the parents and volunteers for the work he has done at footy monsters.

Andrew is now learning how to manage his independence by improving his budgeting skills and knowledge of utility bills etc, his coach at the GCHRYMCA continues to support him in these areas. Supported by his coach to apply for accommodation at the YMCA Foyer Project, Andrew has received the good news that he has been accepted and is currently awaiting a placement.

Andrew will be able to concentrate on his studies whilst further improving his knowledge of independence. This will be a positive step for Andrew on to bigger and better things.
