GCYMCA rocks the Matrix

Grimsby & Cleethorpes YMCA’s Music Fundraising concert rocked the Matrix club in Grimsby to its very core on Friday 6 June.

Over 150 avid music followers, including staff and Service Users from GCYMCA, packed into the Bethlehem Street venue for a night of first class entertainment.

Ingle Bear, featuring project workers Laura Gale and Andy Ingham, kicked off the event with a soothing acoustic set.

They were followed by all-girl group Step of Faith, who impressed with their funky covers of mega hits ‘Hella Good’ (No Doubt) and ‘Zombie’ (The Cranberries).

Last Man Standing and Outta Line continued the rocking as the night progressed, with some more popular covers - the former’s singer, David de Silva, in particular impressing, whilst the latter’s pop/punk single ‘Leave Me Alone’ had the crowd bouncing.

Headliners Just lived up to their billing with a rousing set that capped off a fantastic evening.

Just are one of North East Lincolnshire’s top-rated bands and have a slew of accolades under their belts.

Showcasing a host of their own material from their upcoming EP, including stand-out tracks ‘Kiss in the Road’ and ‘Sleepless Nights’ - the local quartet were met with rapturous cheers as the night drew to a close.

The raffle prizes are drawn

There was also a raffle and two name cards, as well as the £2 entrance fee, all of which raised money to go towards expanding the music project, which the team hope will purchase an iMac computer with music software. Some of the prizes on offer included a signed Grimsby Town football, as well as a special commemorative signed t-shirt of the event.

A full review of the night will follow shortly…
